The alum plant in Mühlwand is no longer on the Mylau corridor, but is an important monument of industrial culture. Alum slate was mined here from 1691 and processed into alum salt on site. After the closure of the alum plant, the area developed into a destination for summer visitors. The visitor mine has been open since 2001 and a variety of events take place.
