The Alteburgturm was built as a Bismarck tower after the Franco-Prussian War in 1870/71. The foundation stone was laid on March 22, 1897, the hundredth birthday of Emperor Wilhem I. If you climb this 28 m high tower, you have a beautiful view of the city of Arnstadt and the surrounding Thuringian Forest.
