We walked the Nakesendo trail from Nakatsugawa to Nagiso, passing through Magome-Juku and Tsumago-Juku. My battery ran out just before the Magome pass 😒, but can confirm that it was quite hilly from Nakatsugawa to Magome pass, and mostly downhill thereafter. Others have mapped Magome-Juku to Tsumago-Juku, and the route to Nigaso Station was well signed.
