The half-timbered house, covered with a high hipped roof, was built in 1450 by Heinrich Brant. The ground floor was built using a post-frame construction. The stands of the cantilevered upper floor built above stand on lugs. The compartments below the windows, 16 each on the long sides and 6 each on the narrow sides, are marked with St. Andrew's crosses. A double flight of stairs was built in the 19th century for the portal in the south to the market square. There were originally halls on the ground floor and upper floor that ran the entire length of the building. The market hall was on the ground floor, today the Ratskeller is there. The upper floor is now divided into several rooms.

The oldest half-timbered town hall in Hesse is the town hall of the small town of Zierenberg in the Kassel district. The Gothic building was built around 1450 and extensively renovated at the beginning of the 20th century. The builder was Heinrich Brant, named by a guild mark on the south-east gable of the half-timbered building.

Pretty, small market square with the oldest half-timbered town hall of Hesse. There is also a café and a restaurant.
