Sourmilk Gill is a steep section of the beck that runs between Easedale Tarn and Easedale Beck. It's thought that the name represents the colour of the fast water in the waterfalls.
The trail follows the beck upstream and is mostly runnable. In good weather it's fun to scramble the beck itself, climbing the waterfalls and swimming whenever you feel like it. Otherwise, the trail next to the beck is well made and although steep in sections it's a lovely place to be running.
