On the old railway line from Dransfeld to Göttingen, the basalt stones from the Hoher Hagen quarry (at the Gauss tower) used to be brought into the city, e.g. for cobblestones. Today the rails have been dismantled and a path has been created that follows the old route, often as a ravine.
The section offers a lot of nature and less experienced cyclists the opportunity to improve their stamina. It's always a little uphill and if you've overestimated yourself, you just turn around and come back to Göttingen with a gentle kick and roll. :-)

On the old railway line from Göttingen to Dransfeld you can cycle up the mountain in a big bow and with a bearable incline. On the way there are beautiful views of Göttingen and the surrounding area and interesting old railway bridges.

The path is gravel throughout and has a really pleasant slope.
