The Limmat (Zeutichdeutsch Limet [lɪmət], older Limig [lɪmɪg], in the Aargau lower reaches today Limmig [lɪmːɪg]) is a river in Switzerland. It takes its name from Zurich on the last, 36 kilometer long section of the approximately 140-kilometer long Linth-Limmat river system.
