The Monastery of Santo Antonio or Herbón Monastery is a Franciscan building. The order settled in this valley, through which the Sar and Ulla rivers flow, in 1336. This monastery is the source of one of the most prized products in the entire Padrón area - the Herbón pepper, which was probably brought back from South America by one of the Franciscans travelling to America and which has since helped Padrón to gain a place in the Spanish and international gastronomic landscape.

The hostel is in the Herbón Monastery (Padrón council), about 3 km off the official route.

Anyone who has the opportunity to get a bed here gets a very special experience! There are 30 beds for the pilgrims (2 beds each in 15 chambers), which are quickly occupied.

The Hopitaleros open the hostel at 16:00. At 18:00, a tour of the monastery will be offered. And at 20:00 there will be a mass followed by a pilgrim blessing.

After the mass is eaten dinner and at 22:30 clock night is announced. We were awakened at 6:30 with the "spring" from the "four seasons" ....

Breakfast at 7:00 am and at 7:55 am the last pilgrim had to leave the hostel.
