In the middle of the forest stands the Brothers' Altar, now beautifully reconstructed, as a place of worship for Catholics who had to live their faith in secret (this story, however, appears to be untrue, but originated later).
There are thirteen images in wooden chapels of a Stations of the Cross carved into the sandstone cliffs. The fourteenth station is the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre, a smaller niche between the thirteenth station and the memorial plaque. The actual Brothers' Altar is the wooden altar.
The two statues at the top of the stairs are significant (now replicas made of artificial sandstone).
The whole thing is very beautiful and romantic.
