In the Schieringer Forest there are several megalithic complexes from the Neolithic Age - the sacrificial mountain is one of the most impressive. In recent years, the information boards and signposts in the forest as well as the signposted path have been redesigned with EU funding. There is also a rest area on the Sacrifice Mountain.

A well-known burial mound from the Bronze Age is the so-called Sacrifice Mountain, which has been a well-visited object for more than 150 years. As early as 1894, many tourists came to the Schieringen with the Bleckeder Kleinbahn to spend interesting hours there.
Several large stone and burial mounds from different eras are located in the area. A few graves are up to 70 m long and can be easily reached via a signposted hiking trail.
