On the way between the Visbek bride and groom you also pass through the floodplain forest of the Aue. It's worth taking a detour to the ford on the Aue.

When the tide is low, you may be able to cross the floodplain on foot, if not, simply turn back. The visit is worthwhile in any case, since we can see an original river in its unchanged bed, surrounded by quaint forest. The floodplain at Dötlingen later feeds the Hunte.

Here the path leads through the middle of the floodplain. The ford is not for everyone. But that's no problem with a pair of good rubber boots. In the summer just get out of your shoes and a towel should be in your backpack anyway.
