    Hiking

The Lookout is a popular destination for hikers as it offers stunning views. It's a bit strenuous to get there, but the view is definitely worth it. The Lookout is also an important part of Gougane Barra's history. It is said that St Finbarr, the patron saint of Cork, came here to pray.

Gougane Barra is a small settlement west of Macroom in County Cork. The name goes back to Saint Finbarr, who is said to have built a monastery on a nearby island in the 6th century. The ruins that still exist date from around the beginning of the 18th century. At this point you have a wonderful view of the wonderful nature!
