The "Fiery Elias" drove along this route and transported molten pig iron from the blast furnace in Phoenix-West to the oxygen steelworks in Phoenix-East. At that time, the bridge looked different: to protect it in the event of an accident, it was shaped like a trough made of reinforced concrete.
