In 1731 it was built by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I as Wall-Dutch windmill. In a stone plaque above the front door, the king has had his Inizialien incised: "Friedericus Wilhelmus Rex" and 1731 as a year of construction can be read.
Today, the mill is looked after by a young group of mills over 70 strong and presented to the public on four mill days each year.
