With the craggy rocks of the Rote Wand in the background, the Schmelzwersee, located at 1,793 meters, forms a wonderful backdrop. The Formarinbach, one of the two source streams of the Lech, rises very close to the lake (the second is the Spullerbach very close).

One of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Austria. A lot going on, as many tourists take the bus up to the turning plate to the Formalinalpe boot.
