In the center of Rödinghausen, the Protestant Church of St. Bartholomew stands prominently on a hill. The church, essentially late Gothic, dates back to 1520; the west tower is considerably older. The church received its present appearance during the extensive renovation and expansion of 1893. The two massive neo-Gothic transepts form a stylistic unity with the older parts of the building, so that today, old and new are barely distinguishable. The first wooden predecessor church on this site most likely dates back to the mid-9th century (851/853), and the first stone building dates back to the 12th century. Particularly worth seeing inside are the processional cross (14th century), the winged altar from 1520, the Renaissance pulpit from 1588, and the apostle figures (16th century).

St. Bartholomew's Church is rarely open outside of service hours. It can be viewed from the outside at any time and can be walked around. The churchyard, shaded by ancient trees, is a wonderful place of tranquility.
