The medieval church of St. Sebald in Nuremberg, also known as Sebalduskirche, is the oldest parish church in Nuremberg and, alongside the Frauenkirche and the Lorenzkirche, one of the city's most outstanding church buildings. Its two towers are impressive and catch the eye of the viewer.

The Sebaldus Church is the older of Nuremberg's two large parish churches and the oldest (since 1525) Evangelical Lutheran parish church in the city. The fact that St. Sebald was always nobler and more important than St. Lorenz can no longer be seen in the cityscape since the train station was built. But the direct proximity of the church's hall choir to the Old Town Hall underlines its former importance as Nuremberg's "council church", in which St. Sebald, the city's patron saint, is also buried.

The tomb is a rich work of art, made according to plans by Peter Vischer between 1508 and 1519 by his sons, in the form of a small piece of architecture that has rich figural decoration (including scenes from the life of St. Sebaldus). Bronze casting is considered an early example of the reception of forms from the Italian Renaissance north of the Alps.
