In this shady valley rich in vegetation, a few steps from the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, in Anchiano, there are the ruins of five ancient water mills. The most important and best preserved (now recovered as a home) is the Baldassini mill, dating back to 1581.
These are vertical axis mills (or Retrievers), generally on two floors: on the lower floor were the hydraulic intake works and the warehouses, on the upper floor the milling rooms.translated by
