The church was mentioned as early as 1266. Its location is located on a hill and supported by large stone walls and fenced Schmorkauer cemetery above the road of peace. It can be reached via a long staircase that formerly belonged to the manor. It used to be the church of the neighboring village devastated by the Thirty Years' War. This explains their location on the hill between the two villages.
