Watou and St Bavo's Church host a world famous festival of Gregorian music every 3 years. St Bavo comes from the Romantic era and has a very beautiful organ. The small village is also worth a visit in between, especially because of the good restaurants. We particularly recommend de Paterstafel and 't Hommelhof.

Road cycling

In the rural village center of Watou is the Saint Bavo Church, a three-aisled hall church, which has preserved the brick part of the west facade of the central nave and the tower base from its Romanesque construction from 1150-1200. In the 16th century, the church was enlarged and Gothic remodeled. The sacristy dates from 1804, the baptistery and porch are from 1837. The pseudo-Romanesque gable with rose window and part of the octagonal crossing tower are from the 19th century. The groin vault of 1840 was designed by priest-architect J. Clarysse.
