The building, popularly known as the Herderkirche, is actually called the Stadtkirche St. Peter und Paul and is the most important church building in the city of Weimar. Since the Reformation in 1525, it has served the community of Evangelical-Lutheran faith.
Since 1998, the Herderkirche has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage (Wikipedia) as part of the Classical Weimar ensemble.

Popularly called Herderkirche. The late Gothic church was built from 1498-1500. After the destruction in the Second World War, the church was completed in 1953 again.
