Around 1810 Diederik Gijsbert von Wardenburg built an orangery in his estate park. The Edelman from Amsterdam was the new owner of the Extener Edelhof. Nobles who could afford it collected exotic and rare plants in orangeries. Over the years, orange, myrtle and cedar trees grew in Exten.
In 1988 the orangery was extensively renovated and is now privately owned.
