Hiking Highlight
A beautiful nature reserve with many interesting plants and animals. We even saw a kingfisher and a sea eagle.

The 13 km long circular walk through the "Katinger Watt" offers a beautiful hike. Lots of birds, trains and a very untypical forest area are to be discovered. The forest area at Katinger Watt is very untypical for the otherwise less wooded peninsula Eiderstedt. The forest was created only after construction of the Eider barrier from 1868 and is, certainly also due to the sandingen soil, quite light. The many water surfaces and Sielzüge offer unique image / photo opportunities. The inclusion of binoculars on the tour is highly recommended.
Beginning and end of the circular walk are in Katingersiel at the tavern Andresen, in which a stop is worthwhile.

Initially beautiful hike through a nature reserve, one arrives at the K41 it's several miles on a moderate, after a turn to the right on the L305, along a busy road along. You can also crawl on the Eider Barrage on the concrete dike and continue there, then you have at least a good view of the North Sea and the nature reserve, but then at some point must be brave enough to venture down the steep path or, as I preferred, to the Vollerwieker March bay. Then cross the busy road and on the next road to the starting point.
