We were just walking up the Langenecksattel to the Benediktenwand, when behind a bend suddenly a Capricorn stood. We stopped motionless and the spectacle, which offered itself to us, was terrific ... several ibexes with females and boys passed us in a peace of mind. An ibex came very close to us, stopped and did not move on until all the others had passed. I miss the words ... and I still get goose bumps when I think about it.

It is indeed a great experience to suddenly stand in front of a herd of ibexes. The animals are actually quite trusting and do not seem to perceive the common hiker as a threat (anymore). So: "Open your eyes" in the Benedikten and Brauneck area - a buck could be waiting around the next bend ...
