The city fortifications of Gartz (Oder) were built from the 13th century with boulders made of field stone and brick. There were three watchtowers inside the wall. These were the so-called "Blue Hat", a round tower and the so-called "Stork's Nest".
The fortification consisted largely of the city wall and four city gates. The northern part of the city wall with the Szczecin Gate is still preserved today.

The wall has to be worked out in Gartz, which means that the elements are almost in good condition. Private buildings border on the outer side of the wall.
