The old Rhine bridge, which has spanned the river since 1912 and had numerous wooden bridges as predecessors, is an arched bridge made of steel-concrete. With a total length of 147 m, this is not only a Rhine but also a border crossing that you can easily pass for a leisurely stroll through the old town on the Swiss side. However, this bridge has been closed to cars, trucks and motorcycles since 2008.The "border crossing" is worthwhile, because the beautiful Swiss old town offers numerous sights as well as many pieces of jewelery in hidden nooks and crannies and also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. However, since Switzerland is not a member of the EU, the national currency here is of course the Swiss franc. The "Inseli" located in the Rhine and accessible via the bridge belongs to the Swiss national territory and is now a popular park and bathing area on the Rhine.Oh yes ... all the flags of the German federal states and all the flags of the Swiss cantons hang on the bridge. Little guessing game ... who can name them all?

From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the "Inseli" and the old town panorama of Rheinfelden Switzerland on both sides. A short detour to Selmegg directly on the German side is worthwhile. The Anna sculpture by artist Roland Kistner alone is worth seeing.
