Best Mountain Biking Routes to Former Ahnsbeck Lock Bridge

Tips

  • The bridge is the former "Ahnsbecker Schleuse" (1882-1951)! And according to maps from 1861, this place in front of the lock was still used as a washing place for sheep. Entire flocks of sheep were driven here (until 1954) and washed. Older Hohners still know or refer to this place as "sheep washing"! Incidentally, the Ahnsbecker lock is called the Hohner lock by the Helmer fighters. At that time, the sluice served to obtain water and even drinking water.
Today's bridge is in the NSG Müsse and the river or stream is the Wiehe. The water is wonderfully clear for a torrent! The Wiehe later flows into the Schwarzwasser.

  • Nice building. Even experienced cyclists have to dismount here. Okay, one of them may fly over.
