St. Peter zu Kirchdornberg today belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish in the Bielefeld district of Dornberg in the Bielefeld parish of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. The church is the oldest sacred building in what is now Bielefeld's urban area

Hiking

The church had a three-part chime since the Middle Ages. One of the bells was expropriated and melted down during World War I. Two bells - cast in 1510 and 1743 - still exist today. Since 1927 the church has had four bronze bells. Two bells confiscated during World War II were replaced in 1954. In 1927, a steel construction replaced the wooden belfry, which was replaced in 1998 by a wooden belfry. At the same time, the oldest bell from 1510 was restored and made ringable again.
