The Czerna monastery is a place of pilgrimage. It was not always like that. Pilgrims have only had access since 1805.
The monastery was founded as early as 1629 as a place of silence, solitude and reflection. The monastery was sealed off over a large area with a kilometer-long stone wall, some of which is even shown on the Komoot maps. So one can imagine that apart from the monks only special ecclesiastical and secular dignitaries were allowed to enter.
In 1805 this hermitage was over.
The monastery church can be visited, but of course not during mass.
In front of the monastery you can walk a way of the cross, which is worked into the slope in many serpentines. No humble pictures, as can often be seen in Bavaria, but large stone figures that tell of the suffering of Christ.
