The dune areas of the seashore remained in their natural state for centuries. It was not until the beginning of the 17th century that the need was felt to plant trees there.
After a few years, the "Maikuhle", the first park in Kołobrzeg, was built.
At the end of the 19th century, parts became a central cemetery. After World War II the village "Die Maikuhle" was used for military purposes and the cemetery was closed.
In 1971, the rundown cemetery was removed and transformed into a passive recreation park and christened "Unity of Nations".
