Egon-Bremer-Platz is located between the city ponds and the city garden.
The aim was to create a reef spot and a place for a leisurely rest at this crossroads of popular day trips. The Egon Bremer Foundation has taken care of the financing of the new design of this area. The available area was previously in a bleak state dar. Already in city plans at the beginning of the last century, this important crossroads area is located. Here the paths meet Wevels meadow (along the Vorthbach), the tangent with Plaggenbahn / Josef-Albers road / Randebrockstraße, the way to the city ponds and the Hierkampweg (direction Hans-Böckler-Straße). The Tangente Plaggenbahn was formerly used among other things as a horse cart track for the supply of construction sites with bricks of the steam brick Ernst Bremer and Co.

About the Founder: Egon Bremer came from a long-established Bottroper family of contractors, who since 1878 have been involved in a construction business with a joinery and a construction materials store. In 1906, the brick factory on the Köllnischer Wald was founded. Egon Bremer felt very connected throughout his life to his hometown Bottrop and was active in various fields. He has decreed that his entire fortune should be used to found a foundation whose income is available for the purposes of the foundation.
