The white gold of Colonnata is not just the marble: the town that dedicated a splendid monument by Sparapani to the quarrymen is also renowned for the production of lard. Colonnata was founded around 40 AD to mine marble, because Carrara was very popular back then.

An absolutely sleepy village surrounded by the wealth of the Carrara marble quarries. The adjacent money does not necessarily have to help a region in the immediate vicinity, can be seen here. The people are still very friendly :)
