Hiking

The village of Espagnac is made up of the remains of a former large monastic complex. An Augustinian monastery built in 1130/1140 has already been destroyed during the Hundred Years War. When it was rebuilt in the period 1211 - 1264, a canonesses monastery was established, which successfully developed and contributed to the prosperity of the upper Célé valley. The convent was abandoned and badly damaged during the French Revolution. A choir of a hundred nuns sang once more during high mass before being definitively expelled.
