The Way of St. James, which leads past Eschede, connects in Mariensee to the pilgrimage route "Loccum-Volkenrode". There it is possible to make a pilgrimage via Paderborn, Fulda, Aachen, France to Santiago de Compostela. In the Eschede region, pilgrims can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Südheide Nature Park with its varied landscape of forests, secluded bogs and crystal clear heather streams.

Since 2007, pilgrims have also been making pilgrimages on the Lüneburg Heath Way of St. James.
The Lüneburg Heath Way of St. James begins in Hittfeld and runs through the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park to Soltau.

From Soltau, there are two ways for pilgrims to get to Mariensee Monastery: through the Aller-Leine Valley or through the Celle region.
In Mariensee, the Lüneburg Heath Way of St. James connects to the “Loccum – Volkenroda” pilgrimage route, or there is the option of making a pilgrimage via Paderborn, Fulda, Aachen, France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

In the Celle region, pilgrims can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Südheide Nature Park with its varied landscape. Extensive forests, lonely moors, crystal-clear heather streams and beautiful heathlands that shine in their purple splendor in August are what pilgrims encounter on their hike through the Südheide Nature Park.

Always surprising wherever you come across the Camino de Santiago.
