The church is one of the so-called "cycle path churches" and therefore always offers tourists the opportunity to stop off or even go to the toilet. The green sign to the left of the entrance indicates!
There are a total of three churches by this builder and St. Peter's Church was his first and it was always undamaged.
Then the same builder built the Michel in Hamburg and later even a third church, which no longer exists.
Very beautiful inner church, be sure to go inside!

A beautiful Baroque church, which looks a bit inconspicuous from the outside, but the more spectacular inside. Outside it shines in red brick and inside a baroque dream surprises in white and gold.

Opening hours of the church: April to October from 9am to 6pm

The idyllic town on the east dike is worth a detour because of its large, stylish Baroque church of St. Petri, a rarity in northern Germany. The church was rebuilt in brick from 1746/1747 by the Hamburg master builder Prey.
Prey was the co-builder of the Hamburg Michaelis Church, the Hamburg Michel. At the dimensions of the church one can still see today the prosperity of the Ostener in this time. The interior decoration from the construction period has been preserved unchanged; It is unmistakably similar to that of the Michaelis church in Hamburg.
The Baroque pulpit altar with its impressive 10-meter high back wall, the two-storey west gallery, the long line of Gutspriechen, the flat wooden barrel vault with the lush ornamental decoration on the large nave impress with the uniformity of the late Baroque style.
The organ was created by Jakob Albrecht and built in 1751 by the brothers Peternell 1890 a new organ, so that only the prospectus is available. The organ was extensively restored in 1992.
