At the Lac des Eaux Bleues you will find a whole series of beaches where you can relax and refresh yourself in the cool water of the lake. The Eaux Bleues lake has an area of approximately 350 ha3, or approximately 16% of the total area of the Miribel-Jonage park.

The lake is artificial; it was created in the 1970s from the excavations operated by the gravel extraction industry, it is characterized by a variety of fauna and flora. There are a few wooded islands of varying sizes; for example, Île des Castors or Île aux Tortues. The lake and its surroundings are also interesting from an ornithological point of view.

Open to the public, its shores are laid out for walks and sports, attracting a large number of city dwellers on sunny days. Water sports such as sailing, rowing and swimming are practiced there.

In addition to its tourist function, the lake can also be used to supply Lyon with drinking water in the event of accidental pollution of the Rhône.

The lake is subject to frost and significant variations in its level depending on the season; one of the explanations is its function as a natural spreading zone for the Rhône.
