The beech itself is no longer there - but historically a memorable place!

Located on a very beautiful route from and towards Freusburg.
The Catholics were buried in Niederfischbach and the Evangelicals in Freusburg.
It is hard to believe that the coffins were carried over such a long distance back then.
The change of carrier took place here.

This tree was mentioned for the first time in 1592 by Heinrich IV von Sayn.
By his disposal, the deceased were
Catholics from Freusburg to Niederfischbach
buried in the churchyard next to the old parish church.
The deceased Protestant Christians were buried in the chapel cemetery in Freusburg.
When the porters had reached this point and had covered the most difficult stretch, they put the coffins under the old beech tree.
This is where the carrier change took place. The Freusburger porters took over the coffins of the Niederfischbachers and vice versa.
Hats off to the porters who had to carry this far.
