A wide avenue leads to the spacious courtyard and arouses curiosity about the estate and its history. The estate has existed since the 13th century and the manor house was even surrounded by a moat until the 19th century.

Today the estate is still used as a farm and the restored historical buildings offer space for several families.

The spacious courtyard of Gut Sehestedt still characterizes the image of the town on the north side. The estate stands on the site of an old moated castle and was surrounded by a moat until 1865.

A wide path, the dam, leads from the country road over the manor to the manor house built in 1728. Barns, carriage depots and cottages on the north-western edge of the farmyard characterize the townscape in their picturesque staggering.

The three barns are a continuous row of thatched half-timbered buildings. In contrast to the other buildings of the business operation, they still exist in their original form.

For the decimated total inventory of the property that can be traced back to the 13th century, they still give a clear idea of the old facility, which is now characterized by changes and modernization. The barn, a three-post half-timbered building with a longitudinal passage and subsequent central transverse access, was built in 1807 (the interior was remodeled in 1990/92). The carriage house with a row of large gates on the courtyard side and the croft date from the same time. The three buildings were placed under monument protection in September 1996 as important testimonies to Schleswig-Holstein manor architecture.

The farm is still used today by the Ahlmann family as an agricultural business. In 1997, the "Alte Meierei" was rebuilt, which now offers space for eight families.

You can cycle up to the Sehestedt estate and look at it from the outside. To the left behind the estate, a beautiful cycle route begins on a field path.
