A dutchman with a codend and thatched roof

On the old Sophiendeich, which belonged to the parish of Marne, an earth Dutchman with a thatched roof was built in 1845 by the mill builder Paul Jebens. This mill received louvre blades early on.

A petroleum motor was installed in 1907 as an auxiliary drive when there was no wind. In 1936 a short circuit led to a fire that destroyed the mill.

It was not until 1983 that a "new" Kellerholländer was built at this old location: The Immanuel mill from Königstrasse in Marne, also built by Paul Jebens in 1850. So it is a sister mill of the burnt down predecessor.

Immanuel was initially provided with codend and louvre blades. Renovation and renovation measures were carried out around 1918. Among other things, the codend was replaced by a compass rose. It remained in operation until 1959. Over the years, the mill became more difficult to maintain. It was falling into disrepair.

In August 1983 the mill moved to its current location in Marner Neuenkoogsdeich after a spectacular move. After a comprehensive renovation, it shines here in its old splendor. Since the implementation, Immanuel has served the artist KW Hasenlieber as a gallery.

The cellar dutchman "Imanuel" at Püttenweg 2 was built in 1850. The mill stood until 1983 in Marne. She has a wind rose and louvered wings, a complete set up with a gangway. In the basement there is a gallery for modern art. (Contact: Klaus and Vera Wiethoff-Hasenlieber, telephone 04856/898)
