Although wild garlic is not protected, it is only permitted to collect it within nature reserves and natural monuments if the relevant protection ordinance permits it. According to Section 39 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act, wild garlic also enjoys a minimum level of protection outside protected areas, which prohibits "harvesting or using wild plants from their habitat without reason, or destroying or otherwise destroying their holdings" and their "habitats" affect or destroy ".
