Pilgrimage Church of St. Barbara on Eixlberg

A cozy place with the possibility on weekends from 13 o'clock to stop

In ancient times Holzhauer found on a tree cane a wooden carved portrait of St. Barbara. They continued to tell this story. Several decreed the image, worshiped the St. Barbara and received by their intercession with God help in their needs. They were the driving force that brought the picture to the parish church in Pfreimd. Already the next day the same was found again on the Eixlberg in the old place. It was believed that it was perhaps God's word that this image was to be taken to the parish church in a solemn procession in order to celebrate its St. Blood Product more to glorify. So the picture was brought to Pfreimd with great solemnity. To prevent all human fraud, it was closely monitored. Regardless, it was soon back in the old place. It was concluded that the St. Barbara wanted to be especially worshiped at the place. Landgrave Ulrich II (1342), who at that time resided in Pfreimd, had a chapel built on the Eixlberg, and the picture was solemnly placed there. It became a famous place of pilgrimage, so that in the following years the chapel proved too small, which is why in 1700 the present church was built.
