Warning! We took this route (south from here) and the track stops. It requires some more adventurous rock climbing to continue (as far as we could see), leading to the abandoned building. I would recommend only following this path a short way (10 mins) to get the views and then turning back for the mule track or the road back down, unless you feel adventurous.

It is a very rarely used trail, but it leads to Pico Do Facho to Canical and offers fantastic views over Machico. You have to search a bit until you find your way and take care that you do not lose it.

We continued our way south and got into a little adventure as it got stony and overgrown. Finally we came out at the ruined building and luckily found a way out of it 😂
