The former abbey church of the monastery of St. Blasien has a total height of 62 meters and was inaugurated in 1783. It was then the third largest domed church in Europe. With a span of 36 meters, its dome is currently one of the largest in Europe. The architect Pierre Michel d'Ixnard built the construction in the style of the pigtail, modeled on the Pantheon in Rome.
