This is an ideal hike for hot, sunny days, as the trail runs almost exclusively through shady forest. It always runs directly or near the rushing Schalderer Bach, a rather wild mountain stream with a relatively steep gradient, and past its numerous tributaries. Depending on your hiking preferences, you can walk as far as you like along the trail toward Schrotthorn; the return journey is then entirely downhill.
