You can almost watch nature as it "recaptures" the former mining area
June 4, 2021
Numerous species of birds are native to the nature reserve, including many rare species. Native are among others. Hen harrier, tree hawk, teal, goat milker, gray shrike, lapwing, curlew, woodcock, little ringed plover, skylark, crested lark, tree pipit, meadow pipit, wheatear, bluethroat, stonechat, golden hammer and reed hammer. The area is also frequented by various guest birds, including various Limikolen such as avocets, black-tailed godwit, redshank, greenshank, stilt, snipe, oystercatcher, wood sandpiper and wood sandpiper. The black-headed gull has settled in a breeding colony with several hundred birds. The rewetting areas are now valuable sleeping places for the crane during the bird migration. Larger numbers of pygmy swans also rest here. A monitoring and information center is to be set up on or in the nature reserve.
