Several wall and fortification rings were erected in Landsberg am Lech over many centuries. Many parts of it have been preserved to this day, giving the city impressive monuments of historic fortress architecture. The first city wall was built at the end of the 13th century. This is evidenced by sections of wall up to 8 meters high, most of which were incorporated into buildings that were built later. A circular hiking trail leads around the almost completely preserved wall ring.
