Since 1968, a very special complex has been located in the 'book village' Redu in the Belgian Ardennes, since 2007 it has been the ESA Redu Center. Redu has been involved in the European space adventure from the beginning and is now called ESEC.

As part of the ESA network of ground stations, Redu is responsible for tracking and testing different types of satellites in the province of Luxembourg. This is also where the processing center for data in the field of 'space weather' (the influence of the sun on the Earth and its immediate environment) is located. The new name European space Security and Education Center or ESEC emphasizes new important challenges for Redu.

European space travel was in its infancy in the early 1960s, with no launch rockets or satellites or ground stations to track them and calculate their orbits.

At the time, Belgium was already one of the most active countries of the European space organizations used ESRO, which was involved in space research and ELDO for the development of a European launch rocket.

Nice interesting and somewhat mysterious place. Definitely worth walking past here.
