In den Grüben (Street of Fame), Burghausen

The narrow old town street "In den Grüben" is a pedestrian zone that cyclists can use. It is located in the extension of the town square and offers a wonderful ensemble with many historical - partly extensively renovated - houses. There are some unusual shops here, such as the Glaspunkt or the Brennstüberl Geistreich.
Jazz musicians who performed in Burghausen are immortalized here on bronze plates. This is why this street is also called the "Street of Fame".

Visit Burghausen says: "High-contrast promenade and the" Street of Fame "of the jazz legends." Every year in March (in June 2021) an international jazz festival takes place here. The jazz legends that have already performed here have been immortalized with brass plates in the pavement.The area of the “Grüben” was already settled by craftsmen in the Middle Ages. They were mentioned in documents as “fovea” (pit) as early as 1225, as “Grueb” in 1333. Most of the houses date from the late Gothic construction period. Since the construction of the Uferstraße in 1969/71 as part of the flood protection measures, many houses have been renovated.
