The lake and its water are definitely worth a trip. The panoramic path offers beautiful views and there are also many huts and rest areas. You should also take a trip across the lake with the local shipping company.

With a water surface of 137 hectares and a maximum depth of almost 40 metres, the Schermützelsee is the largest and most impressive body of water in the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park. The Toteiskesselsee was formed at the end of the last ice age in the hollow of melting glaciers. As a clear water lake, the Schermützelsee has very good water quality and you can swim excellently at some small bathing areas.

The nature park route (red dot) leads hikers along the panoramic path to the Schermützelsee circular hiking trail. This runs in sections as a high-bank path through the impressive gorges on the west bank. Two information boards from the nature park administration near the Grenzkehle and at the Schwarze Kehle south of the Bollersdorfer Höhe offer further information. The circular hiking trail leads along the north bank of the Schermützelsee over the Sophienfließ as a tributary and through the town of Buckow on hiking trail E 11 past the Brecht-Weigel Haus and along the shore of the Weißen See. The three ships from Seetours Märkische Schweiz take you directly onto the lake from Buckow Strand.
