The old giant trees are interesting, and with a bit of luck you can also see free-roaming cattle or sheep.

Since 2012, the Tierpark Nordhorn has been in charge of the "Hute- und Schneitelwald" in the Obergrafschaft as a regional species and nature conservation center. The old cultural form of the forest pasture (Hute = herding; Schneiteln = cutting) was made tangible again on 26 ha and thus this extremely valuable relict forest was protected from its natural decline. The former form of use of the forest pasture is operated again by the animals of the Nordhorn zoo. As in previous centuries, Galloway cattle, Dutch country goats and Bentheim sheep do the work on site and create a unique natural and cultural environment.

Great idea to temporarily graze the farm animals of the Nordhorn Zoo here.
